1) DA: The Inquisitor is not the Herald of Andraste - I'm told that the inquisitor/herald are they same person, and I've been asked to check if the nominator means that the player character doesn't become that person, or if they mean something else entirely? If I don't hear from the nominator by 08:00 UTC tomorrow, Sunday 1 July, I'll leave it in but there may be some confused potential offerers who would like clarification!

Thanks! I'm keeping Space Opera separate (as I can see ways that a general Space AU and a Space Opera would differ), and I'll query Space Pirates/Privateers - there's a subtle difference between the two, but I wonder if anyone cares about letters of marque in space!

Additionally, there's a typo in this one (character is missing an h):

Also, there are AU tags for X-Men that are written as X-Men and others as XM - I don't know if you want to change that, I just think it might be easier/better if they were all the same, but that's your call :)

I've fixed the typo in the superpower tag, and I'm removing ALL - Steam Punk AU (as that's the one with a - instead of :).

I'm keeping resurrecting cock and resurrecting genitalia - the reasoning being that one's more specific than the other, so some people might only want resurrecting cock and others might want any kind of resurrecting genitalia.

Same with the time travelling character - one is more specific than the other in that it specifies it's an accident.

I think the "related to" ones are sufficiently distinct (same name could be within a canon, one specifies same name in different canons, one is without the name being the same).

I'll query the genderswap and consider changing X-Men, and thanks again!

No problem :) I wanted to have a proper look at what was there anyway, so figured I may as well make a lost on the way through of anything that might be considered duplication - I wasn't sure how strict your rules were on it. Thanks for fixing the typo and looking at the X-Men thing - that kind of stuff just bugs me! lol

Not the nominator that left the nominated DA tag up above, but I've been trying to figure out if they meant like the Warden or Hawke are the Inquisitor instead of the character(s) that we choose to play in the Inquisition or if like they meant there's two Inquisitors and one of them has the Mark, but the other doesn't?? @_@

Either way would definitely love some clarification here haha.

I nominated "Genderswap AU" and I don't think it's the same as "All characters genderswapped" - the former could work for just one or two characters, the latter is ALL of them.

Hello, I'm the Identity Porn nominator, what do you mean by rewording it? Do you mean something like, Identity Porn in canons where there's none? Or something else?

Thanks for the comment! I'm currently thinking that "Identity Porn" is more of a general trope (which isn't necessarily AU) than specifically an AU, so it would need to be reworded to involve some kind of AU element.

I'm struggling to think of how this would work as a general AU, personally, because I'm not sure what you want from your identity porn! It might be best to think of identity porn AU scenarios for your specific fandoms rather than nominating as "ALL".

Sorry I'm not much help here - I'm happy to discuss if you have any ideas!

As far as I always knew, Identity Porn is an AU, given canons where there's no secrecy about the identity of the heroes of course. It was one of the tags present on MCU AU Fest, for example, and the mod disallowed tropes on that exchange.

I tried to think of all the fandoms I'd like to request it for, but I still think it would be a lot more easy to nominate it as a general catch-all tag, as one tag instead of 10 identical tags minus the fandom part would make more sense imo. Would 'Identity Porn in canons where it apply as an AU' work?

If you still think that I need to renominate it for each fandom, please let me know.

I'm a bit confused - Identity Porn isn't intrinsically an AU even in canons where there are no secret identities. To me, that's really just a trope and not necessarily an AU. Maybe we have different definitions of Identity Porn (or indeed AU)?

I've had it suggested that you could use something like:

All: Character has a(n extra) secret identity
All: Canon characters who know each other's identity don't in this AU

or

FANDOM: Char A has a secret identity that Char B doesn't know about

Would either/both of those work for you? If not, I think we might need to discuss what you're looking for specifically from identity porn to get some wording right, because I'm sorry to say I'm not seeing how it's a general AU applicable across most fandoms (and I want to make sure you get what you want!).

Sorry, long day, it took me a while to get back. :s

If you decide to go with "FANDOM: Char A has a secret identity that Char B doesn't know about", I'd reword it as "DCEU/MCU: no one knows character's real life identity". But if you think it doesn't work, well, I'll just request other AUs and put it as an option in my ODs.

I like "All: Character has a secret identity" because it can be used in combination with both spy related prompts and superhero/villain related prompts on non spy and non superhero canons. :)

Sorry for all the back-and-forth on this! I just want to get this phrased in a way that will (hopefully!) get you what you want.

I didn't nominate any of these, but here's my two cents:

1. Alignment swap and good guys are bad guys/bad guys are good guys seem like duplicates. I'd say Hero(es) become the villain(s) is its own thing though, since it doesn't specify that the villains also become the heroes (ie, everyone could be villainous together AU, lol)

4. I'd distinguish between daemon AUs and His Dark Material fusions myself. Daemon AUs = daemons in the canon the characters are from, with no other changes to the plot. HDM fusion = characters from another canon are in the actual HDM universe.

7. I'd also distinguish between doctor/nurse AUs and medical AUs. Doctor/nurse is more specific than medical, which encompasses not only doctors and nurses, but EMTs, possibly pharmacists, etc.

I agree with slightweasel about #1, fwiw. "Hero(s) become the villain(s)" is something I'd request if I wanted specific focus on their turn to villainy, whereas alignment swap might just drop me in a universe with swapped alignments with no explanation of how they got there.

(Not sure if that's what the nominator intended, but that's definitely how I'm interpreting it.)

That would be me. Maybe "One Character Does Not Belong" would be better. I'm thinking like how Sydelle Pulaski in the Westing Game is a mistake (was supposed to be Sybil Pulaski), or if one of the characters in And Then There Were None wasn't actually a murderer. I could nominate it as fandom specific to ATTWN if that would be better.

Aha! I understand.

It seems like "One person is a mistake" might be a tag that makes more sense under a specific canon - it would be perfectly fine under ATTWN (I like where you're going with this!), but is a bit broad under All.

If you don't mind moving it to ATTWN, that would be great. If you don't happen to get to it by 08:00 UTC tomorrow, I'll be happy to do it!

Not sure about alignment swap, but I'd read 2 and 3 as being different. 2 implies to me that they've always been different, while 3 implies that something changed them.

ALL: Medical AU

I'd agree with another commenter that these could be separate.

ALL: Stranded on a Desert Island
ALL: Trapped on an island

I think these two could be different, because there's enough "trapped on an island" plots that don't involve being stranded. And Then There Were None is a good example.

Nominated Space Pirates AU-- I have no opinion on if you should include space privateers in that, but ngl, I'd love an AU specific for space pirates with a government contract for raiding :D

I have to admit I'm kind of loving the idea of both!

It's been suggested that I merge them together, but I think pirates and privateers are probably sufficiently different to leave them apart - I can see how some people would like pirates but not privateers and vice versa. ;)

All of them are Alignment swaps, but "Hero(es) Become the Villain(s)" sounds like just one person or side changing and the other remaining the same. "Good guys are bad guys/Bad guys are good guys" has everyone changing alignment. So the first, to me, is like if Rey accepted Kylo Ren's offer in The Last Jedi while the second is if Rey was always the bad guy and Kylo Ren always the good guy. The only scenario that those two don't cover that "Alignment Swap AU" does is where the villain becomes the hero without the heroes changing alignment.

On the other hand, none of these are tags I plan to request so I really have no strong opinion on what you do with them.

I didn't know I wanted Space Privateer AU until I saw this, but I also agree that they are similar. If you merge them maybe delete both and make a new tag of All: Space Pirates/Privateers AU so it is clear that it encompasses both.

Also leaving the pirates and privateers separate - I can see them being different enough for it to be important if you get one or the other.
