Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling
AU: The Veil was a Portkey (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling), AU: Regulus Black faked his death (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling), AU: Disabilities not caused by magic exist (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling), Sirius Black (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling), Regulus Black (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling), Relationship: Regulus Black & Sirius Black (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling), Relationship: Remus Lupin/Sirius Black (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling), Original Characters (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling)
Suffice it to say that I have issues with the monumental stupidity of having a veil of death in a government office building--and Kreacher describes things, in his tale of Regulus's death, that he clearly wasn't present for. You can do these AUs separately or together (though I'd really love it if you blended them).
The original characters were approved strictly for the disabilities AU, as, well, there AREN'T any Potterverse witches or wizards in the series who are disabled for mundane reasons and Pottermore says that there aren't any, period. I would like to see a magical world where magic cannot heal every physical, psychological or emotional disability NOT caused by magic and where disabled witches and wizards have a place--at work, at Hogwarts, in the Order of the Phoenix, etc. If you want to skip the OCs but apply the AU to a story with either or both of the Black brothers, that's fine.

Likes: G* Awesome characters--especially female characters. You may have noticed that many of the characters I requested were women and girls. I love hearing stories about women and girls doing all sorts of things, taking center stage and telling their own stories.
Also, to quote white_aster: "I have a serious kink for competent characters who are good at what they do: let the characters be awesome in a realistic, natural way, and I will be in heaven."
* Characterization. I love finding out new details about characters that fit what we already know. Backstory, post-canon, missing scenes, friendship fic--it's all good, as long as I feel that the characterization still fits plausibly into canon. Imaginative AND believable would be incredible.
* Consent in sexual scenes, and affection in a relationship unrelated to sex—kindness, humor, friendship, enjoying each other's company, having fun with each other.
* Endings that fit. I love happy endings—who doesn't? But if the ending that flows naturally from the story is sad or creepy or whatever, you don't have to shoehorn in a happy ending to satisfy me.
* Friendship. I'm a sucker for improbable friendships that absolutely should not work but do.
* Gen stories. There are obviously exceptions to this, but even in pairing stories, I have a strong preference for plot over porn.
* LGBTQ characters.* Because why should stories be heteronormative?
Things that I absolutely DO NOT WANT:
* Underage sex.
* Incest.
* Student/teacher relationships.
* Major character death.
* Soulmates AUs.
* Graphic sex.
* Kink in general.
* Idiot plots,where the plot doesn't work unless the characters behave like idiots.
* Lack of consequences. I hate it when a character makes a bad decision that SHOULD have a negative impact on his or her life...and nothing happens to him or her, because this character is one of the designated good guys. I hate it even more when an action that has been previously described as evil when the villains were doing it suddenly becomes virtuous when the heroes do it.
The next two—well, I don't think that they should be concerns, but they may tell you something about the way I think, so I'll list them anyway.
* Abuse--physical, mental, emotional or sexual--being presented as a good thing--or worse, a loving thing--to do. Rape, non-con and dub-con fall under this category for me. So does stalking.
* Bigotry played for laughs or shown to be correct.

Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling
AU: Merope Gaunt lives and raises her son (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling), AU: Lily grabs Harry and Apparates away while Voldemort is fighting James, Relationship: Merope Gaunt & Tom Riddle | Voldemort (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling), Relationship: Lily Evans Potter & Harry Potter (Harry Potter - J. K. Rowling)
Fair warning. I have ISSUES with Merope Gaunt and Dumbledore's assumptions about her (http://gehayi.tumblr.com/post/89869293976/1-dumbles-was-a-major-dick-about-her-2-she).
Aside from that, I would just like both women, who were very young when they died (Lily was 21, Merope 19), to have a chance to survive and (hopefully in a loving way) raise their sons. So either AU is okay. I don't know that the AUs can be blended, but if you want to try, more power to you.

Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis
AU: Bree & Shasta don't exist; Aravis & Hwin are the heroes (Narnia books), AU: Lasaraleen is secretly a member of the Tisroc's intelligence service (Narnia books), Aravis (Narnia), Relationship: Aravis & Lasaraleen (Narnia), Relationship: Aravis & Hwin (Narnia books), Lasaraleen (Narnia books)
I've always loved Aravis, and I would adore it if you could manage a retelling in which she and Hwin are the ones who save an unsuspecting country from a sneak attack and Lasaraleen, for all her seeming fluffiness, has a sharp-as-steel mind--and a purpose in everything that she does. (And if you want to worldbuild about Calormen as well--or straighten out some of Lewis's contradictions--that would be great.)

Chronicles of Narnia - C. S. Lewis
AU: Shasta | Cor & Corin are doubles but not related (Narnia books), AU: Rabadash believes Susan has been kidnapped from Tashbaan (Narnia books), AU: Rabadash attacks Cair Paravel rather than Anvard (Narnia books), AU: Escape from Tashbaan fails (Narnia), Prince Rabadash (Narnia books), Aravis (Narnia), Lasaraleen (Narnia books), Relationship: Prince Rabadash/Susan Pevensie (Narnia books), Relationship: Susan Pevensie & Lasaraleen (Narnia), Relationship: Aravis & Lasaraleen (Narnia), Relationship: Aravis & Hwin (Narnia books), Relationship: Shasta | Cor & Corin (Narnia books), Susan Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia), Edmund Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia), Lucy Pevensie (Chronicles of Narnia)
I think that you can mix and match these pretty well, but two that I like involve Rabadash believing that Susan was being forcibly carried off by her brother and/or the other Narnians, so that the "mission of conquest" that he sells his father on is actually a rescue mission...which would mean bypassing Anvard and riding straight to Cair Paravel.
I would love to see what would happen if the kids, the Narnians, or both were captured while leaving Tashbaan. Now what do they do?
It's very strange, but canonically no one ever looks at Shasta and Corin and thinks, "They could be twins!"--even though they are identical. I'd like this explained. Is Corin a magical construct? An android? Did Lord Bar magically clone Shasta, leaving an infant double behind to persuade everyone that the baby prince wasn't missing? Or is Shasta the clone/construct? Are they both clones of the prince that Lord Bar kidnapped as a hostage? And does everyone in Archenland and Narnia know why the two boys are look-alikes so that the word "twin" never comes up?
I would really love to see what would happen next if the Narnians, the kids, or both couldn't escape from Tashbaan.

Romeo And Juliet - Shakespeare
AU: Juliet doesn't take the knockout drug (Romeo And Juliet - Shakespeare), AU: Juliet asks Prince Escalus for help (Romeo And Juliet - Shakespeare), Juliet Capulet (Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare), Friar Lawrence (Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare), Escalus (Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare), Rosaline (Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare), Romeo Montague (Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare)
You can opt for either or both. I just want to see a situation where Juliet tries to find--or actually does find--a better solution to her parents trying to force her to marry Count Paris than "fake my own death by taking a drug that will put me in a three-day coma." Bonus points if Friar Lawrence, at some point, owns up to marrying R and J.

AU: Set in a different historical time and/or place (Romeo And Juliet - Shakespeare), AU: Same story but different genre (Romeo And Juliet - Shakespeare), AU: Romeo and Juliet are a queer couple (Romeo And Juliet - Shakespeare), AU: In SPAAACE (Romeo And Juliet - Shakespeare), Juliet Capulet (Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare), Romeo Montague (Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare), Relationship: Benvolio Montague/Mercutio (Romeo And Juliet - Shakespeare), Rosaline (Romeo and Juliet - Shakespeare)
...and by "queer" I mean anywhere on the LGBTQIA+ spectrum. Lesbian, gay, genderfluid, genderqueer, biromantic, bisexual, bigender, trans, queer, questioning, intersex, aromantic, asexual, agender, panromantic, pansexual, pangender...all good.
As for the other AUs, they are ors, not ands. You can put R and J in ancient China (complete with Chinese social customs of the time) and see how (or if) the story changes. Toss them into the 1920s with Juliet as a flapper. Change the genre from tragedy to mystery, science fiction, fantasy, courtroom drama, etc. Put them on alien planets, on starships, on space stations. Let them BE space stations, if you want.
Play around with the time, the setting, or the characters' sexuality. Just have fun.

The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher
AU: Maggie Mendoza escapes from the Red Court vampires on her own (The Dresden Files- Jim Butcher), AU: Maggie lives; Susan doesn't turn or die (Dresden Files - Butcher), Susan Rodriguez (The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher), Margaret "Maggie" Angelica Mendoza (The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher)
This is my long-shot fandom. I honestly don't expect anyone to write anything for it. Also, I haven't read Skin Game, the most recent book in the series, and don't expect to, so if you want to disregard it, feel free.
Changes is probably the book that I dislike most in the series, thanks in large part to Susan Rodriguez being manipulated, by the man who allegedly loved her**, into transforming into a batlike monster and then said man telling her that she had to die. Granted, her death saved her daughter (as well as her killer) and destroyed all the Red Court vampires. However, since Susan was Latinx and the Red Court was composed of Incan, Spanish (as in "from Spain") and Central American people while the man who destroyed them all was white, this left a bad taste in my mouth.
So in this version, no genocide, please. Let Maggie save herself through her own stubbornness and ingenuity and/or nascent magic; let Susan save her daughter through Muggle cunning and/or the skills she's learned in the Fellowship of St. Giles. You can do either story or blend them. I just really, really, want Susan to have agency/free will and humanity in this situation, not to be used and manipulated into becoming something that she regards with horror.
**I say "allegedly loved her" because I don't believe that love involves manipulating someone you care for into a situation that will annihilate them as a person. That's not true love, no matter what Butcher says.

The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher
AU: Molly is given the choice of becoming the Winter Lady (Dresden Files - Butcher), AU: The Winter Lady's Mantle makes her sterile--not violent (Dresden Files - Butcher), Relationship: Molly Carpenter & Mab & Mother Winter (The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher), Molly Carpenter (The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher)
This is my long-shot fandom. I honestly don't expect anyone to write anything for it. Also, I haven't read Skin Game and don't expect to, the most recent book in the series, so if you want to disregard it, feel free.
What I really wanted to ask for as a prompt--and what I couldn't, as the tags can't be more than 100 characters--is "Molly is given the choice of accepting or rejecting the Mantle of the Winter Lady, either before or after it is bestowed." Again, the issue for me is consent. Let Molly talk things over with Mab ahead of time and be prepared. Let the Mantle get dumped on her by Maeve's death...but let there be a magical out to ensure that no Faerie Queen is forced to bear their Mantle unwillingly.
The second prompt is an attempt to get around the short story "Cold Case," in which the Mantle made Molly savage Carlos Ramirez to prevent her having sex with him because the Winter Lady has to be a virgin. However, Molly has already admitted in canon to having almost every kind of sex (except for penis-in-vagina, that is) so this behavior on the part of the Mantle makes no sense.
As far as I can tell, the issue is in preventing the Winter Lady from becoming a mother, as the ruling queen is always a mother. Therefore, the logical thing is for the Mantle to act as the world's best contraceptive**; neither the Winter nor the Summer Lady can conceive while wearing it. If they can't conceive, there's no need for the (still consented-to) Mantle to preemptively tear apart sexual partners. How does this change things, for better and for worse? Is there a catch?
**You have no idea how many ways I tried to say "acts as a contraceptive" in the prompt. It was always too long.

The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher
AU: Justine decides she'd rather be with a human (Dresden Files - Butcher), AU: Harry doesn't make a Faustian bargain & remains disabled (Dresden Files - Butcher), Harry Blackstone Copperfield Dresden (The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher), Relationship: Justine/Mara (The Dresden Files - Jim Butcher)
This is my long-shot fandom. I honestly don't expect anyone to write anything for it. Also, I haven't read Skin Game, the most recent book in the series, and don't expect to, so if you want to disregard it, feel free.
Both of these are stories about disability and free will. The Justine prompt was intended to be "AU: Justine gets treatment for her mental illness and decides that she'd rather be with a human than with the adult man she hooked up with when she was underage." (Mara is a black woman for whom Justine professes "considerable affection and healthy desire." She first appears in Ghost Story on 563 in the print edition and 409-410 in the digital one.) I'll explain in my letter about the timeline issue and Justine's age, but no matter how she and Thomas feel about each other, I'm really not comfortable with someone five years Harry's senior hooking up with a woman who was, when they met, a minor who was mentally ill. At the very least, I'd like the problematic aspects of that relationship acknowledged; at most, I'd like Justine to find health and freedom and love away from the Raiths. Because she deserves better.
As for Harry...yes, we're back to Changes again. I dislike it strongly when characters get disabilities wiped out by authorial fiat and when protagonists who are not supposed to be villains make literal or figurative deals with the devil. In this book, both happened. Harry broke his back, made a deal with Mab, and was fine.
In the AU, I'd like Harry not to make the Faustian bargain with Mab--and sure as hell to not even CONSIDER making one with the Denarians--and to remain disabled. (Paraplegic and quadriplegic are both fine.) This would necessitate either his changing his approach to save Maggie (it would have to involve fighting from a hospital room or a convalescent home) or trusting others to save her instead while dealing with completely new monsters/attacks/etc. along with his own malfunctioning body. Load on the problems. Just no easy outs. Oh, and happy endings preferred.

Star Trek - Original Timeline
AU: Jadzia lived (Original Timeline), AU: Lenara Stays on DS9 (Star Trek Original Timeline), Relationship: Jadzia Dax/Lenara Kahn (Star Trek Original Timeline)
I've long wanted to see an AU where Lenara stayed on DS9 at the end of the episode Rejoined and they tried to make it work. I'd love to see them working through how much they're Jadzia and Lenara versus how much they're Dax and Kahn. And I'd love to see Lenara learning to relate to the other denizens of DS9.
Or maybe Lenara comes back at some later point, having worked through whatever she needed to wok through, maybe after Jadzia has had a near death experience at the end of S6.
DNW: Jadzia/Worf

If you write Queen Elia I'd like her to be the Queen Regnant (basically, DNW: Rhaegar), I like femslash so I'd be happy to see her shipped with Ashara, but equally happy with them platonically ruling the Seven Kingdoms.
For Elia and her children escaping King's Landing, where do they go? Dorne? The Free Cities? Even the North?

Person of Interest (TV)
AU: No Machine AU: ISA Agent Shaw meets Samaritan Operative Ms Groves (Person of Interest), AU: Root Doesn't Die (Person of Interest), AU: The Winter Soldier (Person of Interest), Relationship: Root/Sameen Shaw (Person of Interest)
I've always really loved Root and Shaw's relationship, from Root's terrible initial flirting to Root being the thing that kept Shaw going through months of Samaritan torture.
I'd love to see an AU where Root didn't die (maybe she was never shot, or she was badly shot but ultimately survived) and she and Shaw continued to work the numbers post-finale while trying to navigate a relationship. I'm pretty much okay with Reese still being dead, and Finch having gone off to Italy to be with Grace in this AU.
There's an S5 episode where we see a world without the Machine; Shaw is still an ISA Agent and Root is Ms. Groves, seemingly the Samaritan second in the command. I would love to see them meet in this universe, especially with Root being so different.
I've always loved the idea of Shaw as a winter soldier type character following her torture by Samaritan. You should feel free to set this in canon, or as a fusion with the MCU, metal arm optional.

What I'd really love is for somebody to take the MCU and have... fewer dicks on the dancefloor.
You should feel free to take a deep dive into any one of my prompts: what if Peggy was given the serum (maybe she's Cap, maybe she's the winter soldier) using just the Captain America/Agent Carter characters; what if Jane Foster was worthy, using just the characters from Thor, etc. Or you could combine those prompts (or make it work in any other way you fancy) to write an all female Avengers team, and for that you should feel free to bring in any female MCU character that I've forgotten to mention here.

Aside from that, I would just like both women, who were very young when they died (Lily was 21, Merope 19), to have a chance to survive and (hopefully in a loving way) raise their sons. So either AU is okay. I don't know that the AUs can be blended, but if you want to try, more power to you.

There's also loads more in my prompt letter, but please feel free to run with an idea if the tag we match on is enough of a prompt for you!
