Additional post-deadline pinch hits
Sep. 3rd, 2020 11:11 pmThe collection is due to open at 20:59 BST Saturday 5 September. Every signed up participant who completed their assignment by the deadline (or with an agreed extension) must have a gift before the collection can open.
The deadline for these is notionally 08:59 BST Saturday 5 September (12 hours before the collection is due to open) but is negotiable. If you can take a pinch hit but will need additional time, please let me know how long you will need when you comment to claim.
To claim, please comment with your AO3 username (comments are screened) and the name/number of the pinch hit you want to claim, and a day/time you can complete it by.
You don't have to be signed up to the exchange to claim a pinch hit, but you do need an AO3 account.
I'll post again as soon as I have more information on the likelihood of the collection opening on time, but I'm not ruling out a delay!

Do Not Wants: Fic written in first or second person, over-use of epithets, out of character behaviour, belittling, canon-atypical sexism, non-con, character bashing, ship bashing, gender-bending, A/B/O, mpreg, watersports, scat, emetophilia, infantilisation/de-aging/associated kinks, crossdressing, anal stuff, unnecessary grimdarkness, unresolved angst, excessive gore (i.e. If you do decide to do the Yharnam AU a degree of gore is more than applicable because... Bloodborne. However, if it's a standard Gothic Horror then no thanks). Necromancy as "raising the dead" as opposed to it's traditional meaning as a form of divination.

General likes:
Childhood flashbacks and backstory; flashbacks and pre-canon backstory in general; slice of life; dreams and other ways to look into the characters' subconscious (I like when it gets very weird, but it also doesn't have to); symbolism; parallels; character study; a character meeting their child self; "what if" AU and other kinds of canon divergent AUs; time travel AU in the context of getting a second chance to do something from the past differently (the "Peggy Sue" trope); a character saving their younger self from trauma; crossovers; dorkiness; characters having fun; children doing their own thing and not being controlled; humor; pop culture references (from tv more than from movies); future/post-canon; exploring canon mental illness and the process of healing from trauma; self-(re)discovery.
Additional fandom-specific likes:
Re: Being Erica fusion: I would love to see time travel as therapy existing in the canon universe.
Re: Canon character death not happening / Rescuing a dead friend: I mostly had Quentin or Marina in mind, but I'm also 100% okay with Sylvia or Penny. Or all of them! (Though "Everyone Lives" is a freeform I requested in the other part of this sign-up, so feel free to save just one/some of them if we matched on this one.)
Re: Dead character meeting Death: Same as above. But if it's Quentin, his death cannot be permanent, since that's my DNW.
Re: Ending up on the Discworld: My favorite Discworld characters are the witches, especially Granny Weatherwax and Nanny Ogg, but feel free to use any characters and/or locations you like.
Re: Canon Divergence (and, by extension, Alternate Ending): Feel free to put the fork in the road literally anywhere - from the smallest to the biggest decisions, and as early or as late in canon as you like (including pre-canon).
Re: Peggy Sue, Time Travel Fix-It, etc.: Feel free to use it for any event you like, my only preference is that changing the past is successful in the end and things are actually better and stay this way. (It's totally okay if they get worse before they get better, of course! Since some of my other requested freeforms are exactly that.)
Re: Eliot & Billy Hargrove: Since Eliot grew up in Indiana and that's also where Stranger Things takes place, I headcanon Billy as Eliot's father. Billy is exactly the right age and his story could very plausibly go this way if he had lived. (It would only require "Waugh" to be a chosen last name, which I'm already kinda assuming it is.) Appearances of other Stranger Things characters would be awesome, especially if someone is nice to Eliot.
Re: Julia becoming the goddess of the Underworld: This AU is scenario best explained here, in the post and in the tags: https://face--the--strange.tumblr.com/post/620239835151695873/headcanon-in-which-persephone-who-wants-to-leave
Re: Characters playing D&D: I'm a big fan of an AU where the canon events are actually a D&D campaign played by the characters. But characters just playing D&D in a canon setting is also okay.
Re: all other freeforms: They should be self-explanatory. :)
Other than my DNWs, anything goes, so go where the freeform(s) take you and I'm going to love everything you come up with! :)
You don't have to stick to one character or relationship - ensembles and/or friendships between any of the listed characters (as well as their friendships with others) are amazing.
General dislikes (DNW):
Any romance; any sex; any kink; physical illness/sickness; someone being taken care of by another person (grooming, feeding, etc.); unresolved mind control or possession; possessiveness portrayed as positive; violating consent and freedom portrayed as positive when it's "not a big deal" or "for someone's own good", also in a non-sexual context, also when it applies to children (convincing someone to do things they don't like, "playfully" tickling when someone says no, intentionally limiting someone's choices, "grounding", etc.); parents' POV on a parent-child relationship; self-sacrifice and self-denial portrayed as positive; non-canon pregnancy and childbirth; AU that completely changes characters' backstories.
Additional fandom-specific dislikes (DNW):
Permanent death for Quentin. (If Quentin is involved, I am perfectly happy with him just not dying at all, but if he does it's really important to me that he is brought back. I would also prefer no mentions of the "Take On Me" funeral bonfire scene.)
Eliot forgiving his father (whether or not it's Billy) or other abusive family members.
If Discworld is involved: The relationship between Nanny Ogg and her sons and/or her daughters-in-law.

Re: Narnia: I prefer if Narnia doesn't replace Fillory but exists along with Fillory. The existence of two worlds that are this similar has a lot of potential, in either a cracky way or a serious way.
