A few quick queries regarding nominations below!

The tag set will close for nominations at 20:59 BST on Saturday 25 June. View the countdown here. (It will then reopen, after a brief period for cleanup, to accommodate AU Fest.)


Remember:

1) Do not nominate "All Media Types" or "& Related Fandoms" fandoms without prior discussion (unless it's The Clone Wars or Assassin's Creed). Please be specific!

2) Group nominations need to be in / or & format using character names where they exist; please do not nominate groups by group name or "Character/Everyone" etc. only. (The reason for this is: if you nominate e.g. "The X-Men", technically your gift creator would be obliged to create a work featuring all possible members (and potentially guess if you want gen or ship). Please be specific so everyone understands which characters - and the nature of the relationship between them - should be included in your gift!)

3) All fandoms need to have at least one character, relationship or "Other: Worldbuilding (FandomName)" nominated. At least one tag per fandom will be required by the signup form so fandoms with no tags nominated will not be accepted.

4) If you need any additional freeform nominations, comment here (or email me, or message me on Discord) with your (properly-formatted) freeforms and I'll add them manually.

Nominators: you have until 14:00 BST tomorrow, Monday 20 June, to respond; if I don't hear from you (or you don't amend your nomination on AO3), I'll...do whatever I feel like doing at the time. That might be rejecting, that might be amending to something in line with the rules, we'll see!

12) Fairy Tales & Related Fandoms - nominator, these appear to be nominations for seven different fairy tales under one "& Related Fandoms" fandom, which I'm afraid is not permitted by the rules. Please nominate these as different fandoms. If no response by the deadline above, I'll accept the first ship in the list (which I believe is Little Red Riding Hood) and reject the rest. - RESOLVED

13) We have nominations with fairly heavy overlap for: The Grisha Trilogy - Leigh Bardugo, The Language of Thorns - Leigh Bardugo and The Lives of Saints - Leigh Bardugo. Should these be combined under e.g. "Grishaverse - Leigh Bardugo", kept separate, etc.? We have Alina, the Darkling, Baghra, Ulla, etc. popping up all over. It seems to be one continuity so I'm currently leaning towards combining.

Not my Nom, but the Briarwoods one will be Silas Briarwood and Delilah Briarwood. They are the only Briarwoods in the Legend of Vox Machina and tend to get parcelled together because they are married.

That may well be, but alas, I'm afraid it needs to be spelled out.

The Grishaverse includes all of those books, plus a duology that hasn’t been nominated, and Six of Crows, which is in the tagset. The Lives of Saints is a book which exists in-universe, though it might be the “real” stories of the saints and not the ones mentioned in the books. The Language of Thorns has no characters from the other books, but it contains folktales which characters in that universe might have heard.

Six of Crows is set soon after the Grisha trilogy but with different main characters, and one of those characters—Nina—has her story continue in the King of Scars (or Nikolai duology.) That doesn’t seem to have been nominated yet, but if it helps.

Source: Memories of the Grisha trilogy a year ago, things I was told by someone who read Six of Crows, and Wikipedia to verify my memories.

I could see combining them, but also keeping them separate, sort of how Silmarillion and Lord of the Rings don’t go together in most tagsets. Tagsets usually separate the trilogy from Six of Crows and the Nikolai books, but I haven’t noticed the story collections be nominated before, and am not really in the fandom.

The Leigh Bardugo books, despite having different series titles, are all in continuity with each other.

I say keep Six of Crows separate because they're really removed from the Grisha Trilogy characters, but otherwise I'm not against combining the others into Grishaverse. But it could get confusing with SoC separated out to call it Grishaverse.

Why do we have to specify team members I've never had to do that before in exchanges. If I want someone & their team, then it's someone and their team. Dick & The Wilson family is Dick and the four members of the Wilson family. There are only so many letters you can include in your nominations and I can't exactly split it up.

What if I want all 3 Bumblers and all 5 of the Leverage team? There are limited letters you can use.

Vox Machina: "Delilah Briarwood & Sylas Briarwood & Percival "Percy" de Rolo III (TLOVM)", the only Briarwoods there are

Avatar: All Gaang members. I want Zuko & the Gaang, so Zuko as a main focus and then that small group of people with him. It doesn't matter who of the rest has a bigger roll, just Zuko with his friends.

All of the God Fighters team. But they can't all fit in the line. But it's not a big team and anyone who's actually going to offer that tag is presumably going to know who the God Fighters are.

If I really can't leave them as the team like I really really want them to be, can I say them like this instead?

Teen Wolf nominator here! I was thinking of the pack more generally, not anyone in particular, so could I say "Any Members of the Pack"?

You have to specify because I want everyone to be on the same page regarding what is being requested in terms of the characters and their relationships with each other within a tag. Different exchanges will handle nominations differently and I'm sorry if that seems unreasonable to you, but I'd prefer it to be specified upfront rather than having people disappointed later.

Dick and the Wilsons: "Dick Grayson & Adeline Wilson & Grant Wilson & Joseph Wilson & Slade Wilson (DCU Comics)" is 88 characters long. It will fit in the box if that's the actual relationship you want.

If you want all 3 Bumblers and all 5 of the Leverage team: just first names with the fandom after each team comes to 89 characters ("Ezra & Jules & Richard (Impostors) & Eliot & Hardison & Nate & Parker & Sophie (Leverage)"), assuming you mean the original team and don't mean Leverage: Redemption, so that fits. Tt would be obvious to me who you mean and makes it 100% clear that everyone listed has to be included, not just a selection of them. (It also makes it clear you don't require this relationship to include any more temporary members, e.g. Tara, or the cast of Leverage: Redemption.)

Vox Machina: the issue is that the relationship between the Briarwoods is not explicit within the tag. Does this mean Delilah & Sylas & Percy or Delilah/Sylas & Percy? It needs to be in the tag for clarity.

Avatar: including Appa and Momo? Including Suki? One of the nominations here is "Gaang Member(s)/Zuko (ATLA)" so you can see why I might want you to specify the members, in case you're not looking for Appa/Zuko, etc. (And if you are happy with Appa/Zuko: great! no judgement! just please specify.)

The God Fighters team: presumably people offering it will know who could be involved, but I want it to be clear who's important to you so it's obvious exactly who should be included in the relationship.

Basically: I want you to be clear so that the gift actually contains what you want!

For your suggestions: I'd go with the Dick tag I noted above, the Impostors/Leverage suggestion I noted above, then Ben Reilly & Tony Stark & Any God Fighter(s), Dick Grayson & Any Team Member(s). Zuko: I still want you to specify who you actually see as being a member of the Gaang, please!

Well, I did my best, but AO3 told me I had exceeded 100 characters, and wouldn't accept this:

Thanks for replying! I've gone with "Chiana & John Crichton & Ka D'Argo & Pilot & Rygel XVI & Aeryn Sun & Zotoh Zhaan (Farscape)" - that's 91 characters and fits the format, and it's approved now!

edit: I think my other nomination (for Raffles fandom) got approved twice as '/' instead of '/' and '&' and I can't submit the nomination because of that. Could I request to add 'Bunny Manders & A. J. Raffles (Raffles)' and 'Koito Otonoshin & Tsukishima Hajime & Tsurumi Tokushirou (Golden Kamuy Manga)' to the tagset, if that's possible?

Thanks for replying, but I do still need you to either specify the names of Gaang members in the tag or change it to something like "Zuko & Any Gaang Member(s)". "The Gaang & Zuko" still has the same problem where technically the creator would have to include all members, but what you consider the membership isn't 100% clear from the tag.

And I'm happy to keep them all separate if that's what sounds sensible! I just need confirmation that all the characters in all the nominated ships actually appear where they're nominated, and also what's going on with the two ships that include "(Marvel)", then I can approve...so that's probably for today's queries!
